ReplyDeleteThe article that states that face book is about to start to put a tracking device on your face book caught my attention. I try to keep my face book as private as possible, even though I know it will never be at private as I wish. The tracking device is so new that it may turn current users away from face book.
ReplyDeleteI found the article about mobile growth very eye opening. The fact that the number of mobile devices will outnumber the people in the world by the end of the year is outstanding. It proves just how important new media has become. Everyone is always on their mobile devices which is leading them to use the new media mobile devices have to offer.
ReplyDeleteI believe Flip board is such an awesome app and more people should utilize it. It has been a huge inspiration for my photo essay and I believe more news stations and networks should develop digital magazines for ipad users.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe there will soon be more mobile devices then people. Or is it? Nowadays people are carrying around more then one mobile device so it actually doesn't surprise me in the least bit. I know people who have three phones, one for social, and two for work. This world has become a technology world.
ReplyDeleteWell I can say that I have been taking a Facebook break since 2010. I sometimes go back on to talk to old friends and to see what careers they have pursued. In the article it says that 61% of people take Facebook breaks which does not seem like that many people. I just think people have a New media fetish and can't stay off the Social media websites for long.
ReplyDeleteInstagram going to the desktop is a wrong move. Some of the appeal of instagram is to look at it through the phone and focus on the pictures through that aspect. I think this move will change the program for the worst. This will make this just another program and be drown out by its owner, facebook.

ReplyDeleteFrom Jenny Carpenter: I thought the article about taking a break on facebook was very interesting. I know plenty of people that take breaks from facebook for a limited amount of time, maybe finals week or while searching for jobs, but no where near 60% of people. I think this is an inaccurate account and I think the experiment is skewed. The main problem with this test is that the sample size is too small and I gathered that maybe the sample was a little older than the main facebook generation. It would be interesting to take a different bigger sample and see what the results would be.
ReplyDeleteFrom Jessie Williams: I think that it is a bit ridiculous that Facebook of all things has come to the point that people consider it something to "sacrifice." It is 2013 and technology/ media is on the rise. It is good that people realize they need to take a break from Facebook though, I myself has taken breaks from Facebook for several different reasons. Bottom line, to me it is sad that something such as Facebook has reached this point but it is a good idea to take a break from time to time.
ReplyDeleteIt is no surprise to me that Mobile devices will out number humans. Nor do I think it's a bad thing that it will. I am actually surprised that mobile devices have not out numbered humans already due to the fact that several people have more that one now days.
From Ryan McMunn: A cat as the new Monopoly piece??? Well, I guess they couldn't discriminate against felines forever, since there is already a dog piece. What Internet sensation will be the next Monopoly piece, Justin Bieber?
ReplyDeleteSiri coming to MAC??? Just what the world needed...a snarky app that talks back to you. I think people can play that role pretty well. Why do I need a computer program for that?
