ReplyDeleteThis is good information to know, but is sort of obvious... My roommate struggles going to sleep every night. However, he takes his iPad to bed with him. I will forward this to him, so maybe he will change his habits.. but I doubt it!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad I read this article. Now I have an argument against several of my friends who claim going to bed with the TV on helps them sleep better. I never had a TV in my room growing up, and I can't sleep with one on. Now I know why!

I found the TV time before bed article very interesting. I have ALWAYS watched TV before I went to bed, from the time I was a kid. Personally, I have never had trouble falling asleep with the TV on, but I would venture to guess that my initial sleep is probably not as peaceful since my brain was concentrating on a story line or visual. These days it is so hard not to expose yourself to something with a backlight before you go to bed. Little kids and teens should probably have to leave their phones outside of their rooms before they go to bed.
ReplyDeleteFacebook statuses are more memorable than lines in a book??? I actually believe that. We spend more time on Facebook than we do with our noses in books, so remembering a status update from someone is not as far'fetched as first meets the eye. We, as people, use subtle hints and expressions to remember other people; if you know a "friend," and see that said "friend" posted something, you are more apt to remember whatever it is that you read.
ReplyDeleteThat explains a lot...I always watched tv before going to bed and I still do. I really thought I had a legitimate sleeping disorder, but turns out, I'm just dumb for watching it before bedtime. Guess I shouldn't have had sugary snacks and cokes before bed either, oh well. *Enter sarcasm here* Good thing I love reading books and not playing halo until the break of dawn. #OnlyIn'merica
ReplyDeleteAfter reading how Facebook affects your memory, I still think it is incorrect. I think people just choose to remember what they want to remember. Interesting quotes can possibly be more relevant to remember, but it really depends on the person.
ReplyDeleteThe one about watching tv before you go to bed did not come as a shock to me. I have always heard that 30 minutes before you plan on going to bed you should turn off all electronics...including your phone
ReplyDeleteThe article on watching television before sleep was very interesting. I have this bad habit of checking all forms of social media on my ipad before I sleep and I defiantly think it affects my sleeping. Electronics should be kept out of the bed room but its hard to do that in the world we live in now.
ReplyDeleteTV time before bed is a no-no. Propping a child at the TV before bedtime is counter productive just like bringing your iphone to bed and responding to emails. I've read articles that discuss this for adults but its interesting to realize that children are impacted from the TV in the same way. Now I know if I decide to have children in 15 years, I'll have them do some jumping jacks, a puzzle or color...anything but watch TV before hitting the sack.
ReplyDeleteHonest to God, MySpace is still relevant? I understand they are trying to keep up, but they seem to be taking every social networking site and ripping off their features. I lost all respect for MySpace when I woke up as a 15 year old and realized I had a life...then came Facebook. Pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI think in this day and age it is important that most companies develop their own apps. I'm always on my phone in between classes and while I'm sitting at home or waiting at a red light. If I really like a company I would probably download their app and shop or visit it in my free time.
ReplyDeleteMobile apps is a great way to help business. I agree with this blog and think that all businesses should follow these tips to help up sales.

ReplyDeleteThe reason I feel that not a high percentage of CEO's are not on social networks is because they probably feel like thats not professional and they probably will not have time for all of that.
